Personal Profile
I am one of your GPs in Briercliffe Medical Centre. I passed my MBBS from a busy medical school in Kolkata, India many years ago, and have worked in a variety of specialities during my long career as a doctor. After coming to the UK, I completed my MRCSEd and MRCGP training which enriched my experience even further. I enjoy working in Primary Care and try to contribute, in my small way, towards our teams effort, in looking after the healthcare needs of our local community. In addition to English, I am comfortable speaking in Punjabi, Urdu and Bengali.

Since completing my Nursing Degree, I have worked as a Community Nurse and a Chemotherapy Nurse. However, I have always had my heart set on working in a GP Practice as I am passionate about health promotion and ill health prevention. As a Practice Nurse, I love the variety of the role, from managing long-term conditions to offering routine care to people of all ages. In my spare time I enjoy practicing yoga (for beginners!), paddleboarding and spending time with my family.

Personal Profile
After nursing for many years at Burnley General Hospital I left the U.K. to live abroad in the sunshine. On our return to Burnley, I was lucky enough to obtain a job as Health Care Assistant here at Briercliffe Surgery which I have done for the last four years. Having decided to re-join the Nursing Register, I have recently completed the Return to Practice Course at UCLAN and I am now one of the Practice Nurses here at the surgery. In my spare time, I enjoy nothing more than curling up with a good book.

Reception and care navigators
Our Medical Administrators provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results, and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Giving them an indication of your problem can help them provide a prompt answer and direct you to the most appropriate health professional. They are trained to be discreet and maintain confidentiality at all times. Our Medical Administrators make most of the patient appointments here. They also perform other important tasks, such as issuing repeat prescriptions, dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with private work requests (for example, holiday cancellation forms), registering patients, processing patient registrations, and carrying out practice searches and audits.
Secretaries
Our medical secretaries are proficient, experienced, and specifically trained in medical terminology. They perform a range of tasks, including facilitating referrals from us to hospitals and other healthcare providers. They work with your GP and on your behalf to make sure you are referred to the right place for your medical condition.
Clinical Administrators
Our clinical administrators perform a range of tasks, such as processing incoming letters, summarising patient notes, registering patients for online services, recalling patients in for annual reviews, and much more. They are experienced within their work, maintaining confidentiality at all times with all information they read and work directly with your GP to make sure all of your clinical information is recorded accurately and every patient record is up-to-date.
All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
The average pay for GPs working at the surgery in the last financial year before tax and National Insurance was £32,077.This is for 5 part time GPs and 1 locum GP who worked in the practice for more than 6 months.
